'Prepare Your Puppy
for Life!'

Help, my puppy is exhausting!

So, you've settled your puppy into their new home and generally things are going well. But then, the toilet accidents increase, nipping and mouthing begins and your puppy starts to chew anything and everything and has become a sneaky thief!

You're at your wits end and you're probably thinking 'what have we done?' All new puppy owners have to deal with these issues and question why they ever decided it would be a good idea to get a puppy.

Don't panic. With the right guidance you can learn to understand your puppy's needs and work with them and gradually start to improve their behaviour.

There is no better time to start preparing your puppy for life than the moment they come home with you. Starting early can help to prevent unwanted behaviours from occuring. But don't worry, if your puppy has already learned some bad habits, these can still be worked on and improved.

A few tips.

  • What gets rewarded, gets repeated.

  • Positive reinforcement works best, so make sure you're puppy knows when they have made good choices.

  • Tidy away all those things your puppy likes to steal and chew.

  • Remember, your puppy does not understand the English language and doesn't come pre-programmed.

  • You need to teach your puppy what is acceptable and what is not.

  • NEVER, use any aversive methods, they only teach your puppy to be scared of you.

  • Seek the help of a reliable trainer.

Good luck!
